“Morning shows the day” one of the most common proverbs that we have heard since our childhood. For being a good human being or to carry ourselves properly in the world we all have to acquire some habits or to learn some habits and manners from our childhood days only. When we think about the personal development of our child the first thing is to start off is to be a good mannered and well behaved child.
Here are some good habits that a child must have to learn for their future betterment.
1. Get up early in the morning: Getting up early in the morning is very useful because in early morning we get fresh and unpolluted air, moreover the mind being fresh and brain also alert. If you learn something at that time you can more easily grasps and your capacity to learn increases.
2. Brush well: Brush your teeth well. When you eat food particles get stuck between teeth, if you left without clean the teeth will rot. The bacteria in the rotten teeth will get into your stomach causing diseases. Therefore it is good to brush your teeth in the night before going to bed and after you eat your food.
3. Take bath: Your body accumulates dust and dirt from the air around you. When you bath the dust and dirt washed away and you skin become fresh and healthy, so that you also can feel fresh and get energy to work well.
4. Prayer time: Like doing all the necessary things in daily life prayer is must for everyday life. So pray to God and seek his guidance for the day. God for us is a source of love, happiness and hope. We get self confidence with prayers. The whole family should pray at least once in one day for a few minutes. This will benefit all.
5. Dress Neatly: Dress neatly does not mean to wear rich or costly dresses. If you have two dresses then wash it, iron properly and wear it neatly. If you wear neat dress it will brighten up your mind and you will feel happy and cheerful. Dirty clothes smells horribly. Remember if you wear dirty clothes no one will come to you to have talk with you.
6. Comb your hair: Scruffy hair is a bad sign, dirt get trapped in uncombed hair. This causes nits and dandruff. So wash and comb your hair and keep the comb also clean.
7. Wash your hand eats healthy food: Wash your hand before breakfast of lunch. Never keep your stomach empty nor should it be stuffed. Eat healthy to get a healthy life. Drink plenty of water and ample of fruits to make yourself fresh and energetic.
8. Say bye:When you are ready with your uniform and school bag, say bye and off to school, a cheerful face is always a welcome sight. Show a smiling face to your mother and other elders of your family. When you are saying bye it means you are happy to go to school and will be happy to come back to your home.
9. Give respect: Pay respect to your teacher. Say ‘Good Morning’ to your teacher show a smiling face. You learn reading and writing from them, you learn discipline from him or her showing respect to your teacher disciplines you. A good student always respect to all teachers in the school.
10. In the class: Be attentive in the class. Remember time is very precious, wasted time cannot be brought back; therefore when a teacher is taking lessons listen to him or her. Pay full attention to what he or she is saying. If you listen and understand in the class you will not be confused while study at home.
11. Change your dress: After you come back home from school, change your clothes as soon as you reach home. You should have wash your hand, mouth, and wear fresh clothes. Remember the dress you have been wearing in whole day is full of sweat and dust. So remove the school dress and wear your home dress.
12. Freshen up: Wash your face and freshen up your body. Once you return from school you should wash your face, hands and feet because these are the exposed parts. A good wash with soap will make you cheerful and happy.
13. Home work: Complete your home work before you go to play. Never postpone your home work for next day or not to be done next day at school, do your home work before you go to play. Remember if you finish your home work you can sleep peacefully.
14. Play time: Have you heard “a sound mind and a sound body” leads a healthy and wealthy life. Play to relax your muscles and mind. Playing always help to improve your digestive system. So you can eat properly, sleep properly. This can give you energy to work and study properly. So play on time to have a healthy and wealthy life.
15. Entertainment:Have some entertainment together with your family. Any entertainment shared with the family is more enjoyable than sitting alone. It brings closeness and teaches you share and care.
16. At bed time: Pray and thanks to God for all the nice things he has given you, before you go to bed and sleep well during night. After a busy day when you go to bed show the gratitude to God. This will give you a sound sleep which is necessary after a busy day’s scheduled.
Good manners will never go out of style, and parents are more responsible to help their child to grow manners in them. So here are few quick tips you can follow to improve good manners in your child.
17. Polite words: “Please” and “thank you” are the magic words, you can use these words as much as possible and when your kids observe you using them at any given opportunity, they will surely follow this. Other phrases you don’t want to forget is “May I,” “Excuse me,” “No, thank you,” and “You’re Welcome. I am sorry” Etc. Teach your kids to use these two of “Thank You” words as much as he can, they should say thank you while receiving things and if someone offers them help. Please tell them to say “please” when they want something done or have to ask for something.
18. Greetings & Introductions: You will feel socially awkward if your children do not know how to interact with the adults in public. Teach them at a very young age how behave when they meet someone for the first time. Like when he introduces him, he has to say “My name is Rahul; it’s really nice to meet you”. You can also teach him to offer his hand in a handshake. Teach your kids to answer in a positive manner and ask back when someone asks them “how are you?”. He should properly say Good morning, Good afternoon, Hello, Hi, Namaste etc. He should be careful over telephone. A polite greeting for the phone is required like, this is Sharma family, Rahul speaking. Etc. Greeting others with a “hello” or a “Namaste” will cheer up someone else when your little one says it with a smile.
19. Table Manners: Every child must have to learn table manners, like how to seat while eating, what would be uses of folk, spoon, how to place napkin, even while eating if he wishes to talk what would be his gesture of talking. Ask them to not use their hands while eating food and take small bites. Basically your child should be aware of table manners and follow them. Never let them talk with mouth full of food.
20. Use of napkins and cover mouth in cough and sneezing: Make them use a napkin. This piece of cloth can be used to wipe mouth, sweat, and many other uses. Kids should always carry a napkin. Make them cover their mouth when they have to cough or sneeze.
21. Use foul language and tease pets: Teach your kids not to use foul language; you should avoid using it too. Make sure that your kids do not tease pets and hurt them.
22. Not to interrupt others while they are talking: When two adults are conversing over phone or face to face, this is the wonderful time to children practice good manners. For example if your child does not know how to interrupt politely, make him teach that moment and explain in a positive way how he can nicely get attention.
23. Nose picking: A child picking his nose can be embarrassing to parents. So make them learn to control their emotions and not to picking his nose in public place.
24. Knock on the door: Teaching your kids to knock on the door and not enter before getting any response might save you from lot of troubles; don’t forget that.
25. Give your child positive strengthening: Children love praise, appreciation specially when it comes from parent or loved one. Most of the time parents criticize their child for undesirable behavior, and ignore their victories and positive actions completely. When you observe them using good manners, make a point and let them know that you are noticing their efforts. Another thing young children always think what they are doing they are doing it right. For example if your child calls an adult by his name,take initiative to correct him or her. Make sure you react sensitively in these types of situations so that don’t embarrass your child. If your child is over sensitive then you speak with him or her personally.
