One of the most common question job seekers often find themselves asking is “What is CV” or Resume? If we ask 10 professionals this question hardly 2 to 3 person can give the right answer. Yes it is most common thing for a graduate or fresher of job market to toss around a lot of this term C.V or Resume. When I was a fresher, I also tossed with the same question. But then slowly I realised the actual difference between the C.V and Resume, which helped me to go ahead in my future job applications.

Before going to prepare C.V or Resume we should know first..

What is C.V? C.V is the abbreviation of ‘Curriculum Vitae’ (Latin term meaning course of life) is a summary of one’s academic and educational details, research or teaching experience, any awards, honors, affiliations etc.

What is Resume?  A Resume (it is a French word which means Summary) is a summary of one’s employment, education, and other skills for the particular job for which he is applying.

Before preparing we should know the difference between C.V and Resume. The main difference between a C.V and Resume is its length. As C.V is related with the documentation of academic qualification so it can be a bit lengthy, actually there is no page limits set to prepare a C.V. You can elaborate your academic qualification to get the preference in sort listing process. Where Resume is more customised to the target of the job profile. Here you need not to provide detailed qualification list only degree can be highlighted, but only specific skills can be highlighted. It is better to break the points in bullets and be specific. Resume generally not exceed more than a 2 page of A4 size paper.

Hope now the difference between these two things is clear with you. Now another important factor to be noticed that, it is very important know about the sector where we can use C.V or Resume. Basically for a graduate school, any academic position like faculty openings, for any assistance profile, any internship, fellowship and scholarship application we may prepare C.V. And for any business sector, industry, government and non profit job application can be done by Resume.

So guys hope this above information will be useful to prepare your C.V or Resume as per your requirements. One thing you should keep in your mind that C.V or Resume is the first step of indirect communication to the employer with you, as most of the time employers prefer to sort list it from the numerous number of applications via email or online application. So you need to be very careful to send your details as a message to employers, to chose your name among others and give you a first preference to an interview call.

So what are you thinking? Create an impressive C.V or Resume and take your chance in the job market.
