Our life designed such a way that we think for future but live in present; we look long term but live short term. Our present life always comes to us with lots of difficulties. But setting a long term goal provides our vision of our lives. We all need a powerful long term goal to pass present obstacles of our life. More over we need to know how to pass these obstacle to achieve our goal.

To set a goal and achieve the same, first you need to consider what you want to achieve and then commit for it. It is true before setting any goal you should be very clear about your qualities on achieving the same. For this purpose you need to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound) goal that motivate you and write down to feel them as tangible. The most important part of goal setting is that it helps us to focus the area which we want to achieve and it gives us the ability to work hard on the part to get the right result. Goal setting is most powerful because it shapes our dream and provides a focus on the targeted achievement.

Setting a goal is most practical job, and you need to be very careful while setting a goal. It is true we can dream of anything but while setting a goal we need to keep in mind that it should not be whimsical, there must be a contrast between your set of goal with the path you will be walk to achieve. Suppose you are not at all player of cricket but you want to be Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, there is no means of dreams come true, or you want to get huge stardom or success as like Mr. Amitabh Bachchan but you don’t know the ABCD of acting or stage performance, than it will be too tough job for you to make such kind of dream come true.

While setting a goal the key aspect to learn and remember, think about your goal and right down the same and obviously in practical way. Have you ever sat down and thought what you are doing, what you are getting and what are your dreams? If not then follow below mentioned steps:

Take time to be quiet, This days we are so busy that we could not make time for us. We are always in so rush that we continuously listen the sound of outside could not feel our inner emotions. Schedule some quiet “dream time’ for yourself in a week, where there will be no other people, no cell phones, no computer just only you and your thoughts with a pad and pen. When you are quiet think about those things that are really get your blood moving. What you would love to do, for a fun or for live life? What would you try if you go for a guaranteed success? When you will have an answer of all such questions then you can say you are in “dream zone”. And it will be in your hand to get success on this. Write down your dreams, never feels that you are doing some thing foolish, or doing something out of track. Keep it in mind never get fear to dream and more over to keep a record of the same. Now, prioritize those dreams, as which one is most important? Which One is most possible? Which you will love most? Etc. Put them in a order and try to attain them. Remember we need to always moving forward in action – not just dreaming.

img17Make your goal SMART: The acronym of S.M.A.R.T is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive.

Specific: Goal always needs to be specific, it can’t be waffle, there is no place for debate, debatable goals always produces debatable results. So make your goal specific.

Measurable: Always set a goal which is assessable or measurable. Accountability of the goal is very much important. Remember better to not set such a goal which is not achievable if you.

Attainable: Always make a Attainable goal, as day dreaming is harmful, the same way some unrealistic goal can cause some problems, which may cause unnecessary hazard. So create goal with a good intentions.

Realistic: The root word should be ‘real’. A goal should be real and should matches with our lives need. It should be like that you have to be able to say, even it is tremendously stretching goal, that yes, indeed, it is entirely realistic, and you could make it. So when ever setting a goal it is better to be on the real world.

Time: The most powerful aspect of goal is, it has an end. When you are setting a goal you have to frame a time for that particular goal to accomplish it. As time passes you work on it and want to meet the deadline. You can break down your big goal into different parts of measurement and time frame. It is always better to set smaller goals and work out them as their own time. Always remember a SMART goal has a timeline.

Remember the golden rule to set a goal

  • Set a goal that motivates you. Set a goal which is important to you, which make you feel, that you have to achieve it.
  • Set a SMART Goal.
  • Set Goal always by writing
  • Make an action plan
  • Stick with it.

So think about it and take the action.
