Why it is important for children to learn soft skills at a young age?

Situation 1: You find a kindergarten child always in delight mood. But become tantrum while playing with other child. He refuses to allow others when he swings and ends up crying.

Situation 2: You find a sweet girl stopped communicating with the classmates suddenly, after a long conversation with consultant you came to know that he is been physically harassed by her car pool driver.

These is the most common things we found in today’s generation child are facing. And In both the case, the children suffered because they could not handle their own emotions.

Lacking of social skills of children – it’s important to start at young age

When we talk about soft skills, we generally think about the college students who are about to appear for their first job interview or young professionals those who are going to up lift their career. But generally we forgot that even children require developing soft skills as they also need to learn how to communicate and act responsibly in social area.

Soft Skills are the SOCIAL and EMOTIONAL Skills that help us to communicate successfully and develop a healthy relationship with people around us. Researches shows that children need these skills to not only achieve success in their school life but also to develop future learning skills and become happy and a concerned adult.

Children who lack soft skills cannot control their emotion like frustration and anger; they are unable to express themselves. They may find it difficult to complete their tasks in time.

They also can face trouble in effective communication and team work. Children should be taught soft skills from the beginning to help them to learn the basic communication skills and also co- operate in school and develop into mature and confident human beings.

How to develop soft skills in childrensoft-skills-in-children

Parents are the first responsible person who can develop the Soft Skills in children. Parents should teach their child basic manners and other necessary life skills. Schools also play a huge role in helping a child to express himself and learn the importance of life skills from personal and social aspect, and help them in their time management too. When developing soft skills to the children we should be patient and teaching them how to behave with others and be inspiring to them by setting good example. Like, most of the time it is very common thing that a child does not want to share his belongings with their peers. It could be from sharing of Tiffin or Toy even sometimes very normal things with others; this is one of the common behavioural problems of the child. Here if you provide some examples to him of his elders like his elder brothers and sisters how they give the first priority for eating any food or to received any other things from parents or grandparents. Also you can show a life example like how a mother provides food to him before her eating. It all will show him how to take care of others and share with others. Or may at midnight he starts nagging to eat ice cream, now you know that eating ice cream at mid can harm his health, but being a little kid he starts nagging and sometime crying to get the same. He get impatient and you also start getting angry with him, and you tend to shouting and mat stat beating to him. No you should stop doing so. Remember when a child start to nagging for something it can raise his temperament and sometimes he can start throwing the things to show his anger. It is better for you to handle it coolly and calmly. You can hug him, and slowly let him understand in an cold winter mid night if he eats ice cream it can causes cough and cold for him, if possible open your fridge bring some ice cream and ask him to feel its coldness. And slowly make him remind that when he was suffering from cough and cold, how it was affected to him and he was suffered. Let him know that if he leaves his nagging for the that time  he could get a good opportunity to have more fun ice cream on next day morning.

Child’s behaviour is depends upon the situation they are going under, it is true child are like water no matter where you are pouring it, it will take the shape of the same. So from the very beginning this is our responsibility to show them the right path to carry over the life. Remember if a child is well behaved, mannered, and calm in mind then they can easily concentrate on study. And after all every parents wants their child to perform academically good.

Here are some personality tips for making child smarter.

Greetings: Most of the time it is seen that if you are wishing a child Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Hi or Hello, they get confused to give answer, even sometime they look at their parents in a blank look, here child needs to be teach to give answers promptly. Which not only give a positive impression to the person it also will show that the child is smart.

Smile on face: When a child is introducing to someone make sure he is having smile on his face as an elderly person if we speak with someone with a dull face will the other persons will listen us attentively? No.. people will not listen us. Same way if a child speaks with others with a smiling face it creates a good impression to others and shows smartness of the child.

Being conscious while speaking over phone: When a child is speaking with someone over phone ask them to be more conscious. Tell them to listen the opposite voice properly, address them properly, and listen every word carefully before giving any reply. Also ask them to speak softly and put a smile on their face, because others may not see their face but can feel it.

Eye contact: Whenever you speak to any one eye contact is essential to connecting with the listeners. This is very important for children also. As not making good eye contact carries negative sign of body languages. So from very young age tell your child to carry a positive body language like making an eye contact to connecting with their listener.

Taking care of voices: These days most of the children take participation in different types of competition, such as elocution, singing, drama etc. Make sure they take care of their voices. As health issues can create problems in their active participation in different events so they need to avoid the things which can create problem. Like avoiding ice creams, cold drinks, and oily food to avoid health issues. Which also can be a good habit for their future.

Respect people: Most of the children has a habit of playing with mobiles or tab during any gathering, ask them to stop doing that tell them to interact with others in gathering respect people and speak with them. People will like them definitely.

Representing school assembly: If a child is having school assembly ask him to drink hot water and gargle with some warm salt water before going to school for clearing her voice. This is a sign of being a smart child.

Fear in public speaking: Fear in public speaking is top three fears across the world. Make your child be smart enough to overcome this fear to get huge advantage in future. Make sure the child put en effort on the following things like how to speak i.e. (Delivery, Voice, Eye Contact, and Body Language) is as important as the content you speak. Follow these tips to make their speech more effective.
