Before, After and During the Job Interview

Do’s in Interview……

Maintain Dress Code: It is very much important to maintain a good dress code for the interview. As it is known ‘first impression is the last impression’ so make sure your clothing fits well, is neatly pressed, and is appropriate for the work environment.

Greetings: It is very much important to put  a warm smile on your face and greet your interviewer with a firm – but not bone crunching – handshake. Sit up straight and lean slightly forward during the interview.

Maintain Eye Contact: To have a good communication make regular – but not staring – eye contact.  Show some energy and enthusiasm through your vocal tone. Use your hand a little bit to make your conversation more powerful.

Document Folder : Keep your all testimonials and other papers in systematically so you can provide the details easily when ask to provide. carry proper folder or file for all these documents.

Describe your strengths: Prepare examples that show how you have grab those strengths to be successful in your past jobs, internships, classes and activities.  Describe specific situations or challenges, as your obstacle, and the results which you generated.

Listen each question carefully: It is very much important to Listen carefully to each question before jumping in with your response.  Ask for clarification if you are not sure of what the interviewer is asking to you.

Review your Résumé: Carefully review your resume and be prepared to discuss challenges and successes in each position listed in your document.




Rehearse answers: Rehearse answers to some typical interview questions and prepare yourself mentally to face the interview.

Be Positive: Be positive in manner as much as possible, even when you were asked the reason to leave the previous company, show positivity to your body language  as well as for your up gradation.

Research the employer thoroughly: Make sure you research the employer thoroughly and know why you would like to work there. Even you need have a very positive attitude while answering such questions.

Show your interest to the job: Let the interviewer know that you are highly interested in the job based on what you learned through the process. Make it clear that you would welcome the opportunity to work with them, or continue on in the process.

Focus why company should hire you: Be focus and share at least five strong reasons as to why you should be hired.

Know the name and email id of the interviewer: Secure the name and email of each interviewer prior to leaving the premises.

Send your gratitude to the interviewer through email: As soon as you finished your meetings and after departing from there send a follow up email or letter which expresses your gratitude, briefly summarizes how the job is a good fit and references your interest in the position.

Don’ts in Interview

Criticize others: In interview criticizing to other people creates negative impacts so do not  criticize any previous employer, co-worker or supervisor.

False statement: do not make any false statements that could be discovered by your employer in the future.

Share weakness: Do not Share any weaknesses which are central to your target job.

Vague Qualification: Do not Make vague, unsubstantiated assertions about your  qualifications.

Showing preference to any single interviewer: Showing a preference for any single interviewer in a group interview situation looks odd so try to avoid doing the same.

Don’t Act like you know every thing: Do not pretends that you are jack of all trades, and know it all to avoid creation negativing impression.

Checking phone: Stop checking your cell phone during your  interview.

Punctuality: Do not arrive late for your interview.

Casual Dress: Dress in too casual a manner could hamper your image. So stop wearing casual dress while going for an interview.

Speak Less: Talk too much can create trouble while giving interview. Even it can make interviewer to feel boar. So speak as much as required as for interview.
